Sunday, 19th May 2024, I participated in the TCC Track Day at Sepang Circuit. This is the 3rd track day in 2024 that I had participated in and driven the S2000.
I have started to get a good feel of how the S2000 handles and having met another S2000 owner, Anson, with his white J’s Racing squared 245 setup I have learned quite a few more aspects of how the car drives. It was really an enlightening session to have an opportunity to ride shotgun with him clock 2″37′ with a passenger and crowded track.
This time round, there was no modifications to my S2000, with same set of tyres from the previous track day. I managed a new personal best of 2″54′ just by managing my pace and adherence to braking points and line.
After the ride with Anson, I learned that for the S2000 to be driven fast I would need to manage the load on the rear and manage the rear slip. This was quite the opposite from my previous understanding where having a planted rear was what was best. Putting this into practice in the following laps yielded a new personal best of 2″52′. I felt the drive was also more exciting by letting the rear slip in the corner to a manageable degree. Believe the advise that I need more seat time and practice is what I need to drive faster in the S2000, until i break into the 2″40’s timing.
